Digital camera
Ovizio’s qMod quantitative phase imaging device is a camera that can convert a regular brightfield microscope into a versatile 3D quantitative imaging platform for biological applications. It can be fixed onto the C-mount where a camera is usually attached to the microscope. The qMod is a convenient and fast solution for direct cell counting in transparent supports, from petri dishes, flasks and multi-well plates to multi-layer vessels.
Designed for high precision, the qMod generates real-time holographic fingerprints of each cell, enabling the user to select and observe cells individually, based on a pre-defined set of parameters. Using the OsOne software, scientists can track changes, distinguish between living and dead cells, and monitor the aggregation rate. To offer the best possible resolution every time, images acquired with the OsOne software can be refocused post acquisition.
Furthermore, when combined with a fluorescence microscope, the qMod can overlay the fluorescent signal with the hologram. This unique approach opens the door to even more applications, with the possibility of confirming results in a dye-free set-up, avoiding sample preparation, reagents and cell fixation, and thereby also eliminating the need to use potentially toxic and often expensive reagents.
OsOne software
The OsOne software is at the center of Ovizio’s analyzers. Designed to deliver an attractive user experience, OsOne is built for easy data acquisition and thorough quantitative data analysis of suspension cell cultures. Its machine-learning algorithms have been developed to identify different objects or cell states, while the wizard-driven, intuitive interface enables a rapid understanding and navigation of the app, providing a solid connection between the user and the device.
Automation possibilities
Our partner Micro-Manager can even be used for synchronizing stage movements and objective changes with our software. This enables further automation of your image acquisition and analysis process.
Currently available applications:
Cell Quality Control (viability assessment, cell counting or confluency measurement).
Virus infection kinetics (fluorescence).
The qMod module has been successfully tested on the most commonly used microscopes (non-exhaustive list):
- Zeiss Axioplan.
- Nikon Labophot 2.
- Nikon Eclipse TS100-F.
- Leica DM IRB.
- Olympus AX70.
