Jalal obtained his medical degree and PhD in biomedical sciences from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, in Belgium. During his research work, Jalal focused on functional analysis of CCL15, a pro-inflammatory chemokine.

He started his professional career in the Seattle area. First in early drug development at Immunex corporation and later on in various start-up, where he held key roles from senior scientist to associate director.

Moving back to Belgium in 2015, he pursued his work successively in target discovery at Ablynx first, in managing clinical trials at The Institut Jules Bordet, and scouting at Servier Oncology.

Before joining Ovizio, as the CEO of Chromacure, he led a team of 20 scientists who focused on target validation and early discovery of small molecule modulators of nuclear receptors.

As a leader, Jalal believes in fostering a strong team-work culture and providing the best development opportunities for his team.

Véronique is a graduate of the École Supérieure d'Optique in France and holds a Ph.D. in Non-Linear Optics. She began her career at the Thales Central Research Lab, first as a research engineer in optics, then as Head of the Organic Materials laboratory.

Since 2000, the common thread in Veronique's career has been to contribute to the development of innovative products in growing high-tech industries. She joined Photonetics, a French Telecom company sold to NetTest in 2000, as Chief Technical Officer and set up and developed the R&D and engineering departments for Optical Components. In 2003, she moved to iXSea, now part of iXBlue, a global provider of innovative solutions and services for navigation, positioning and imaging where she implemented a 24/7 customer support offer, then took over the responsibility of the OCTANS fiber-optics based gyrocompass product line.

Before joining Ovizio in 2021, Véronique spent 15 years with Mauna Kea Technologies, a French MedTech developing a unique Confocal Laser Endomicroscope. As CTO, then Director of Operations, she was pivot to the company’s growth and expansion, encompassing the whole product life-cycle (product development, R&D, engineering, supply chain and manufacturing, quality and regulatory affairs, customer support). Now COO of Ovizio, Véronique is continuing into her passion to efficiently develop innovation into new products that serve a market.

Catherine Vanderhoeven is a business engineer graduated from the Solvay Brussels School. She started her career in financial management control, treasury, internal audit and invoicing process in large structures (Eli Lilly and then Atos Wordline). She then worked for Finance & Invest.brussels, the regional financing structure for Brussels SMEs, as investment manager.

Since 2013, she decided to put her financial expertise at the service of SMEs, by offering them financial management support services: setting up financial monitoring tools (dashboards, budget, monitoring cash flow) and profitability analyses.

It is in this context that, since 2015, she joined the Ovizio team as a part-time financial manager and thereafter also administrative manager. She is also secretary of the Board of Directors of Ovizio.
She gives financial management training too, and is a director of a non-profit organization.

André Lebacq has been part of the Ovizio adventure nearly since the beginning.
He is an electrical engineer from the Université of Louvain, Belgium (1998-2003). During his academic years he specialized in telecommunications, and after his degree, worked for 3 years at the university on various research projects in the field of innovative advanced telecommunication systems, both land bound and spatial. He then worked on xDSL systems as a test engineer, then as an expert to develop innovative xDSL line diagnostic algorithms. He then joined Ovizio in march 2010 and discovered the world of optics and imaging.

He has been working at Ovizio on all fronts in the small beginning team, from control and image processing software development to hardware design, testing and debugging, customer support and device installation and training (and yes, even making coffee, in case you wonder). When the team grew, he led the hardware development team, managed suppliers, without stopping to specialize in and develop the core optical technology of the company. In a next step, he is now VP technology, in charge of overall technical development.

He believes that failure is a step to success™ and will never ever stop learning.

What I especially love about innovation is how it can solve problems and simplify daily operations. I conducted a research program on opto-digital image recognition by correlation. An entrepreneur at heart, in the end I couldn't help but run my own venture. And in a way, I came back to my first love: digital imaging.
